I agree. That's why I didn't get another copy when 1st didn't work fully. I just didn't feel safe with the yoga - and I didn't feel that the promos gave advance warning of level needed for yoga. Can't remember any safety tips on yoga either

If one expects a 'quick fix DVD' that would teach THAT in an hour, too bad then....

I am enjoying her Bellydance Arms and Posture DVD. I am one of those dancers that really needs to learn more yoga though, since flexibility is a big area I need help with. And more squats.. wow.. the squats make my thighs sore, but that's a good thing.

![]() You don't get the squats with me as a tribal (ATS) teacher! A teacher or troupe leader should tailor a class to suit the students or members. There are usally alternative moves. We originally had a slightly younger and more flexible member who could do a Berber walk...on the knees.the rest of us did the alternative move upright. Get good tribal instructional DVDs and there are always suitable or adaptabe moves for dancers of all ages and levels of flexibity. My friend ..the flexible one had the RB DVD and even she said it would dangerous to the less than flexibly fit. |

First I am an Egyptian dance devotee, trained, teaching and performing but I also practise tribal every week with the troupe I belong to and we perform every so often.I also know we have prompted others to take up tribal and I hope when I teach it, I make it accessable..well it has to be if I can do it! |

I may have to move up north when I finally retire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tried the intermediate class of this particular teacher and was told that strength training in squats was necessary for the dances that they do. so I went to beginner's who were doing the same dance. I could just about keep up with them but when the two weeks over easter didn't coincide with the two weeks I had off i realised that I didn't want to go back.
thought my other teacher would be back after maternity about now BUT on the other hand I'm not surprised she's taking longer to get her life back than she estimated. So I don't have a teacher and am getting demoralised........... |

I've studied Eqyptian caberet and folkloric and some Flamenco. By the way, Flamenco is danced alot with a fairly bent leg to get a good sound with all the stamping around that they do. ( stamping around is a technical term, ya know ![]() )I'm just starting to get interested in tribal forms and am going to a practice tomorrow for a tribal dance troop in my area. Whee! As far as squats go, I really overdid them with the DVD and was sore for days afterwards, not really realizing how much 'more' doing that was than doing my leg extensions in weight lifting. I won't abandon doing them but now I'm S..L..O..W..L..Y working up to the amount on the video. ![]() I like to push myself physically, but maybe this is because I've been away from dance for awhile and I let myself go so much with depression and stress over the past few years. I didn't feel like 'me' anymore and I want 'me' back. you know? |
