reen has it. she said she liked it and i just bought it but havent got it in the mail.

suhaila salimpour dvds are geared toward fitness rather than instruction. so that depends on what you are looking for in a dvd.

I was told by my doctor I can do any exercise so long as it doesn't over strain my spine and muscles. As well, I'm interested in any advice on Suhaila's DVDs. I heard she trains alot of tribal dancers (just the type of dance I'm interested in). Any advice would be capital. Thanx.

Hi Edavis2

Indeed I have Ariellahs DVD and I love it!

The Yoga section consists of 3 parts: 8 min warmup or you can use 20 min extended yoga warm up which are both very basic, so for me as a beginner in yoga they are nice and also a 5 min cooldown consisting of stretches and some breathing and deep relaxation, which I really enjoy.

Also there is a thorough Belly Dance Drill section that I try to do everyday. It is about 1 hour 10 min long and consists of 2 parts - basic and adavanced drills. Basic Includes
"Arms and Shouldes"
Chest isolations
Hip isolations

She drills basic moves in that section like slides and lifts and circles going from slow to faster. I found out that for me it is more difficult to do it really slow - i suppose not enough muscule strengh!

Advanced made up of:
Hips and Arms
Chest and Pelvis
Hip isolations

Which drills various figure 8s and undulations and more intricate lifts (like up-up-down or down-down-up instead of just up-down, which requires more coordination). I have not yet done all the advanced section.

I really enjoy the drill part which really helps to build up muscule and "polish" the moves.

Also she includes a choreography step by step, "Rachel Brice" style and demonstration of the choreography to 2 different songs(one of them is really weird something about a plain about to crash- as for me I can NOT dance to THAT, so I am glad she included an alternative song). I think if you go through her drills the choreography will not be difficult to master, because usually on DVDs instructor SHOWS the moves of a choreography, but Ariellah DRILLS them(In the Drill section )!

Also there are 3 performances on that DVD.

It is about 2 Hours 30 min long - She has done one HUGE job on this DVD. So if you dont mind to workout to some weird music- something about "rain of blood" (when I workout I do not really hear the music just her voice, but perfomance is a different thing for me) and you want to learn "Rachel Brice" style (Ariellah was one of the founders of "Indigo" with Rachel) you will love the DVD!

I give it 5 stars!

Hope that helps!

Love,

I just got a dvd called Hip Phylosophy by Leyla Najma that is wonderful. She drills hip combinations that are definitely not boring! Worth checking out, at least I think so!

hmmm, I have this dvd also and though it has some interesting phylosophies, I can not handle some of the angles .. that looking down is all wrong !! it is a very confusing dvd !! and will take a lot of watching, just to get used to the angle they insisted on filming, in some of the segments ..

oops sorry ... lol, the one above my post .. Hip Phylosophy by Leyla Najma it's a great hip dvd, she has some really nice hip combinations but the way they have filmed it, it bounces from front to back which is fine but then they get this wired angle looking down from above at the hips and it's really very hard to comprehend why they even thought it would be a good idea cos it's not .. it just makes it really hard to see properly and comprehend

I just got Jenna's video in the other day. I did about 20-30 minutes of it. So far so good. I should wind up finishing it tonight after the witchlings go to bed.

cant imagine how difficult the rb arms/posture dvd will be? dont think she is a good teacher/explainer, but this is my impression from the tribal fusion dvd, not much for instruction/explanation on that one.

you should invest in it and get back with us...
