This is great, at this rate the British belly dance scene will need it's own section, not just one thread!
So at the International Bellydance Congress thing (from this point forth to be know as "Bellydancing at Butlins"), shall we get a little stand together touting "BOB" t-shirts, and "I heart orientaldancer.net" t-shirts, so we can all meet each other? I'll already know Yorkshire Sara as I will have picked her up in London and made her a cup of tea, and we'll both already know Aniseteph because we would have gone to Brighton to spend the day bellydancing on the beach, but that's only 3 of the potential orientaldancer.netters who will be there, how will we ever find each other?! Salome, reckon you can sort us out a batch of t-shirts by next September? |

Belly Taz will have a special orientaldancer.net tiara to go with her BOB t-shirt so when we arrive from our day in Brighton we can identify her as our founding lady...
Actually BellyTaz, how far are you from Yorkshire? Maybe you and Sara can meet up and travel down together, I'll make you both a brew when you get to London, drive us to Brighton to meet Aniseteph for some bellydancing on the beach, and THEN we'll all go to the bellydance in Butlins event! Gosh I'm so excited and it's still so far away! ![]() |

Hi fellow UK dancers! What experience have people had with workshop teachers and who can you recommend as doing good workshops? I particularly like Khaled Mahmoud, Margaret Krause, Kay Taylor to name a few of the UK based teachers.

Raqia Hassan - Modern Cairo Style, fun and cheeky Samasem - Egyptian Style from a Swede who performed professionally in Cairo for many years Khaled Mahmoud - Lovely! Fabulous technique and choreographies Shafeek - High energy, great technique, really good fun Heather Burby - Very exacting and hard work (for a UK teacher) but well worth it I won't be going to this festival as I don't want to shell out all that money on the offchance that I might get into the classes I want, may end up in a class of 80 or more and am forced to stay at Butlins. Eww! |
