Actually British chipa aren't exactly french fries. They're good and substantial - about 3/4 inch thick

Codswallop was originally lemonade - sold in bottles with a glass marble to seal them.

i replied to gastropod with this as it is another favourite word. Lemonade with snails in - giving the poor girl very nasty food poisoning was the start of consumer protection. It was the first case where a consumer was able to get damages.

End of lesson.

codswallop is also a politer way of saying bullsh*t, and can sometimes stop a bullsh*tter in full flow whilst they try to work out if you are being offensive and if so, how exactly!
