I'm home, I'm home. Boil the water and make me some Earl Grey and tell me what you've been doing while I've been gone. I passed my teaching practical in Albuquerque, shopped and had lunch with a cousin I haven't seen in 43 years in Santa Fe, forded the creek and climbed the dunes with my daughter in southern Colorado, ate ice cream in Salida, and drove for ten hours to get us home last night only to find my husband sick with a terrible cold. Tomorrow it is back to the salt mines, but it was a very nice vacation.
And- I am going over to the dark side of fusion. Yes, troops, it is true. One of my students and I are going to do a clogging/BD duel to Dueling Banjos at the rec center recital next week, fighting it out with clogging taps and zils. I don't know if we will be able to keep straight faces, and I sure the heck hope the audience can't. |

Hey! Coffee is on, and I have cho-co-late piled high on a cyberplate. What is new in the off-topic world of orientaldancer.net? Anyone vacationing, planning a wedding, or having anxiety attacks about whether or not their newest costume will hold together during its trial performance?
As people who play the shopping game know, I bought a horse last week, a bay overo gelding with a bald face and a sweet personality. We got him for my 15 year old daughter who is now totally in love with the animal and keeps his stall cleaner than she keeps her own room. I confess to a certain amount of attachment to the beast since I always wanted a horse and he is a fine one. My daughter has been working at a farm that breeds and trains Arabians, and they offered us a deal on an Arabian, but she wanted a horse she could rodeo with. Arabs aren't heavy enough for roping events, but there is this really cool Arabian group that dresses in costume to show their horses .PS We postponed the Duel until winter recital- my student came down with a terrible URI. |

Yes, I do, though it is not everyone's idea of beauty since the plains to the north are quite dry and free of trees. My house sits on the side of a ridge, facing east, with a view of the Platte River Valley to the north and east and Casper Mountain to the south. I can drive about 15 minutes and be out of sight of most houses and people. In half an hour, I am where I might not see another person for days, and yet be only a few miles from the second largest town in the state.
What is it like where you live, Reenie? You are such a traveler, living in so many places that seem completely exotic to me, like South Africa. |
