Wow. My husband talks about relatives in North Dakota who packed a thermos of coffee for an hour long trip to Fargo, but I think coffee on every corner in WA has got their thermos beat all to heck.

Dear Reen, Many happy returns to you, my Dear!!! Dear Shanazel, An hour's journey would need at LEAST one thermos of coffee. I take my own coffee with me just about everywhere. It is a 15 minute trip to the studio where I teach and I can think of about 8 coffee stands and a few coffee houses between here and there! My husband's Aunt, who is a nun, fell in love with Lattes here when she was doing some nun thing, and she immediately wanted to go into the coffee business in Michigan!! Yeah, why bother to continue as an artist and universtiy level art teacher when you can chuck it all and sell java? Regards, A'isha Regards, A'isha |

There is a saying at work about me (probably more than one, but this one is relevant to this thread!) Never Get Between Bronnie and Her Coffee!!! So I'm with y'all!!

Came late to the kaffeeflatch, will stay long.
I love tea, but coffee rocks! Got my own grinder, got my French press. I love it with chicory, with cinnamon, with Guatemalan cardamom (a fortuitous error when I sleepily put some in once instead of cinnamon -- later found out brewing it with cardamom is an Arab style). Dollop of heavy cream. Splenda or agave nectar. I'm with Shanazel -- prefer coffee with a savory, not so much a sweet. A slice of real sharp Cheddar, a freshly boiled egg with fresh-ground pepper, a bit of chorizo, a handful of nuts. If I go with a sweet it's usually a little chunk of exceedingly rich dark chocolate....oh, dear, I'm not supposed to eat at this hour... We have a bumper sticker out here: "Friends don't let friends drink Starbucks." We also have Celestial Seasonings, right outside town, the tea manufacturer. The teas are lovely, of course, but did you know they're coming out with their own brands of coffee, regular and flavored?

Jeez, I love that place where you live, Kharmine. It is like nowhere else in the world. Celestial Seasonings, friends not letting friends drink Starbucks, and Frozen Dead Guy Days just up the road.
Well, I leave you to the kaffeeklatch. I am in cyberspace as late as you are and I have to work tomorrow. |

I tried putting the ground cinnamon into my French press with the freshly ground beans, but found it would clog the press.
