Serritos? Could be anything... if it was spelled with a C (cerritos), then it would be 'little hills', but that doesn't make much sense... maybe it was some kind of family joke or something...

Hey I did strawberry and raspberry and bramble (prickly stufff!!!!) picking as well.... yuck!

When I worked on the university ranch in college, we used a combination of 2,4-D, 2,4,5-T and paraquat to defoliate cotton. I found out years later that this is essentially Agent Orange.

Thank you for the translation. It really does not seem to make sense, does it? You are probably right about it being a family thing. They could call him whatever they wanted, he was incredibly good looking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, and he had the BEST. relaxed way of walking. Just thinking about him is making me wish wicked and lustful things!!!

So,. how do you feel about the influenza immunizations? I got influenza about 8 years ago and was very sick for about 3 months, coughed up blood, got pneumonia, etc. I now have asthma as a direct result of the it. My doctor told me that it would be best for me to be immunized against influenza from now on, and I have faithfully, but have heard pros and cons.

I am pretty paranoid about it, yes. I never, ever want to be that sick again. I had TB when I was a kid and was not THAT sick.

I am sorry to hear that A'isha! But you are better now. Many people have not been so lucky as you getting influenza. Last year a little boy passed away from Influenza where I work. It was heartbreaking to see him die.

You are doing the right thing by being immunized against the flu. I also have asthma and I get immunized every year. Having asthma, you and I fit into the "High Risk" group. That means we can get the vaccine before someone else who does not have health issues. High Risk for the flu vaccine includes: the young under the age of 4, the elderly, asthma, heart conditions, lung conditions, pregnancy, blood disorders like anemia, diabetes, those with weakened immune systems such as aids and cancer, healthcare workers and teachers, etc...The nasal mist can be used for those patients who are healthy without these conditions. The reason being, the mist is a weakened live virus. The positive about the mist is you can actually develop natural immunities to the strains of influenza that the vaccine covers. As long as you have no latex allergies, egg allergies or history of guillian berre syndrome, you are safe for getting flu shot.

How do I feel about the vaccine? I am 100% for vaccinating. The side effects are mild and rare, protecting people and not hurting them. The rumor that some people complain about getting sick after the vaccine, is totally a myth and coincidental. Think about it: when you go into a health care facilty, you are exposed to every germ under the sun. Although we try to keep everything as clean as we can, we can't kill all germs. That is why it is very important to wash your hands frequently while in a health care setting and in public. Just think of the diseases that have been irradicated due to vaccine. My aunt developed polio back in the 50's before the vaccine came out. She has spent her most of her life partially mentally retarded as a result from having the disease.

As for vaccines in general: All vaccines are safe as long as you are not allergic to an ingredient in the vaccine. The myth that preservatives like mercury (Thymerasol), in vaccines causes autism is totally untrue. There is absolutely no medical evidence pointing to this myth. Many, many studies have been done, one recently and everything points to vaccines being safe. Did you realize eating a tuna fish sandwich you get like 100 times more mercury than getting one vaccine. And, most vaccines are completely preservative free. The ones that aren't are: MMR and influenza. Both of these vaccines do come in a preservative free form if you ask and call ahead. They take a while to order and to get if you still have concerns, however vaccines with preservatives are completely safe. I am an expert on vaccines, schedules etc....So if you have questions, feel free to ask.
