I am telling you this gently I promise my intent is not to demean or to put you down. Your information on American's and religion is not correct however. Public schools in America are not allowed to let children pray or to teach religion in classes. The same is for the government. This is an example to help you understand...In the city where I live, the ten commandments were placed and have been standing in front of the court house and the government buildings for years and years. A couple of years ago, Atheists decided this was wrong for the ten commandments to be placed in front of the buildings because they are government buildings. It was brought to federal court and decided the statues had to be removed. (Against popular vote that most people wanted them to stay.) They were removed and a local church bought them and now they stand in front of the church. If it seems like we are crazy about religion in schools and government, we really aren't.

We are actually fighting to keep them in schools and in our government. We want out children to grow up with good morals and continuing our religious traditions.

Just as other countries would want for their children. I hope this info helps you to understand.
Kute Nurse, the above quote (the part I was mostly talking about, I separated out, as I cannot seem to make it bold) from you is the "we" "we" """"""""""""""""WHEEEE""""""""""" (oops sorry the " " makes me dizzy too!)
I was referring to, in my post that you most recently responded to...

It seems as if you are saying that we (as a nation) are fighting to keep religion IN schools & gov't, and we (as a nation) want to keep our children "continuing our religious traditions"... as well as implying that morals had to do with keeping said religion in schools/gov't.
I have absolutely NO problem if this is what you want to do as an individual..
the part I was questioning & wanting clarification on is why you thought that "we" as a nation (as you seemed to be replying to Mosaic as if you were speaking for all Americans) would want to do that, because, if I recall, our country was founded on religious freedom, one of the great ideas being "separation of church and state"
so sorry if I did not understand your post

I see now what you were referring to. When you post so many times in one thread, it is hard to keep track and once again I apologize you didn't understand who I was referring to. Who I was referring to when I said "WE" are Christians in the area I live, who were opposed to having the ten commandments removed from the court house. I actually was not involved in the process other than signing a petition. The end result did not matter much to me because I still see the statues in front of a church. I also believe in religious freedoms. As I have posted many times, this was used as an example for Mosaic to help her understand my view. Have a good night.

I am sure your son will find the right lady and granbabes will come along. David (my son) is in year 9 and turns 14 in June the youngest in his class, so he has 4 years including this year at secondary college. These final 4 years of schooling are somewhat gruelling for those who aspire to reach the enter scores in the final year 12 exams necessary for University entrance.

I have no doubt he will make it, he has spoken matter-of -factly since he understood the concept of Uni about attending uni. The independent schools here (private) give the kids the drive to challenge themselves & attain their dreams. Sadly very few State schools do this, mainly due to large classes, lack of funds and of course too many kids just go to school until they reach leaving age, they can't wait to leave. I think a lot of teachers just think, 'why bother'. I am not putting teachers down, they have a difficult job to inspire young minds, and of course there are those children who are achievers and won't allow anything to stop them. It must be depressing to walk into a classroom day after day to face a sea of faces who dream of being 'out there' and are more interested in the latest fashion or what they are going to do the next weekend, that what the teacher is saying. Sadly some of those who wish to learn do get lost in the crowd.

So many teachers try very hard to get into the private sector, ( only the best are chosen) because they know their efforts will bear fruit and they also are paid way better than the State system. Private school teachers also have to stay on top or they won't be kept on, so it is continual learning/upgrading for them as well.

I take my hat ( headband LOL) off to teachers, it is a job where complete dedication must be given or you would crumble under the stress I think.

Now that I am older I could do it and enjoy it ... but only amongst those who are enthusiastic about learning. Age has taught me patience and a 'little wisdom'

Teen years are definately tough years for kids. It sounds like your son is a good kid also You have brought up some interesting points to talk about regarding teachers. I have to agree with you, I do not think teacher's get paid near enough. I know in local Catholic school, teacher's do not get paid nearly what public school teacher's get paid. I do not believe they even have paid medical benefits. I am not certain, and perhaps someone else has more info such as Sedonia since she is a prof, I believe in private school colleges, teachers do not get paid as well as in public colleges also. Does anyone have any info on this?

Also, I never thought of teacher's attending school and having a hard time because they are trying to teach and students are not interested, but I am sure it happens and it must be very frustrating to teacher's to do their jobs under these circumstances. Well, I should be off. It was gorgeous outside today and I was outside playing, shopping and running errands. Now I should get something done in my house because I am driving out of town tomorrow. Have a great night.
