Dear Forum Members
during my adult life I defended religion and cultures and debated strongly with people who try to offend others. I get upset when I see no tolerance about others cultures. I don’t think I personally ever went ahead and make statements clearly and quite precisely that my belief is better than yours or my life is better than yours.. I said in my previous post God and Prophets are man made and pure fantasy and I stand by my statement as many of you will stand by your own opinion. You don’t have to believe me, as I don’t believe if the Catholic church was a pre school I would send my kids there. I do not believe we are only 3 something thousand years old , neither I believe we return back to this world after our death. I don’t believe in UFO and I certainly don’t believe in black magic. All this may sound a bit radical to others but as I said if you could express yourself in this forum I have the right to express myself too . Just look at our surroundings, people fighting in the name of religion, most of the wars are fought because of religious beliefs, and I find it hard that people still want to believe something that leaves such a tragic and destructive trail in our lives. Quote:
Dear Tribal dancer I am still trying to figuring out what was that mild warning for, Is it because Sedonia and I both don’t believe on something that don’t exist. Is it because we question them about their existence? Is it because they are not the popular theory. I don’t see any more bluntness in Sedonias post than I haven’t seen in many other members post earlier including mine. Why it is not upsetting when others talk about religion and its greatness but its upsetting when you talk about its bad influence and the truth about it. Why don’t you please quote us from what we say is wrong and inappropriate. Hugz to all.

Dear Aisha thank you for your support. I also believe we all have our rights to express opinion without personally attacking each other. I was brought up in a very religious family , My parents are orthodox Hindu, but they told me one of many things when I was a kid that I am free to choose what I like to be. and I choose not to be with any religion but accept and support every religion when they needed it, I have defended Muslims when many of my friends and family members made remarks against them, similarly I went against many Muslim peoples view when they think every other religion is bad and trying to destroy them. when I think I cant get through any sense to others I ask them about the viability of their believes, I found in this case defending and offending both parties get together and I become the subject of target, I am not particularly talking about this forum but in general. This proves people don’t like to be asked questions about their own beliefs.

In defense of TribalDancer's post as moderator of this forum - I didn't read her post as 'this is what you can or cannot say' but rather suggesting the manner of delivery. It is not east to moderate the Sauna, all the threads that end up here are very heated and emotions are running high. So let's give her a break, ok? I think she is just trying to keep things this side of civil.

Exactly, Salome.
I respect everyone's opinions, empassioned as they often are. I just want to make sure that the tone with which we deliver our opinions, especially on topics we know to be hot-to-the-touch, gently and with respect to differing opinions. |

Dear Salome and Sharon,
Then, in my humble opinion, Sedonia was NOT the place to start that, but closer to the beginning, when many insults had already been hurled. I felt that this was a warning that should either have been made earlier or not at all. I do understand that this thread made it to the Sauna rather late in the game, but Sedonia and Dipali were not doing anything out of the ordinary on this thread. Maybe the warnings in the Sauna need different criteria, because there has usually be some unpleasnttness by the time the thread reaches here. I am not trying to tell anyone how to run their area of the forum, but maybe general warnings to all are more in order here? Just a thought.... Regards, A'isha |

I said it earlier, we all have different beliefs, opinions about culture and religion and we all need to be extremely carefull about how we EXPRESS them. Lets all cool down with this ice cream. I am not asking you to quit, but pls keep the posts sensitive to people on this forum as well as other religions and cultures. Hugs to you all Janaki |
