Religion is a system meant to foster strength of faith and keep people mindful of their beliefs. There are many people who share the same basic beliefs but who differ on things of practice.
It's a little like people agreeing that exercise is important for one's health -- you get your uber-athletes who are absolutely hooked on adrenaline all the way over to folks who are, at best, "weekend warriors." And then there are the people who can't be bothered, for whatever reason. One can get as passionate about, say, rock climbing, as about how to pray. And you can make a religion about anything, including being adamantly non-religious.

I believe that religion is the effort of the humans to understand and explain the divine and to communicate with it. At one hand it is human fabrication. At the other hand it is not. Religion is just the perception of the divine in different varieties
I think that it doesn't really matter what religion you have (or you don't have), because when you start getting interested in finding out more about who you are and why you are here, you will always get to understand something about it, it doesn't matter which way. "All streets lead to Rome"![]()

Hi. This is my first forum, and my second post, my first post was my "I am a newbie" post. So I hope I am doing this correctly. I found this thread interesting, indeed. I certainly do not mind anyone asking my faith. I have been a christian for 30 years now, I am not religious, but have a deep faith. As for belly dancing, I started 8 months ago, with Monday night lessons, the did a series of private lessons. My first solo was June 3rd of this month, and I plan to continue. Physically and mentally it has been awesome!!! I hope to be able to learn some skills, get ideas, and just generaly enjoy the company of some of you experienced dancers.I am still learning and practicing daily. Thankyou!!

a quote by Debra Davenport: "Skills can be learned, but your passion is a part of who you are. The reality is you can do whatever you want to do and set your mind to...". i always remember this when i dance, it is never so much about the proficiency, when you dance it should in some way, shape or form be from your heart. in time proficiency will come. besides a trained dancer can be accurate in her movements but lack soul and grace. like ian, from dancing with the stars. poor fella, so good but dead inside. like a block of wood that boy. |
