Dear Lydia,
Thank you for sharing the clips!! The same dance when done by Saudi men is called Ardeh. I have been fortunate to see the dance done live by Saudi men just once and it was truly wonderful! I was invited to participate in an Arab cultural event at a university by the Arab students. When I once spoke at length with a friend from UAE about Ardeh, he said they "do crazy dancing" and he did not have a name for it. Note how the form of dance changes slightly from one area to another. I LOVE the backward figure 8 style of the UAE and I have learned several versions of this movement. The clips are great!! Hugs to you, A'isha |

Cool! Thanks, Lydia. By the way, I am going to wear my thobe for the final evening of the golden anniversary of Embroiderers' Guild of America in Kentucky next week- the participants are encouraged to wear something golden and I'll bet I am the only one there with a purple and gold embroidered thobe! Hugs to you. Shanazel.
