Hey everyone.
For some reason I'm interested in Khaliji style dancing and I would love to learn how... However, due to a really bad hair cut, my hair is no longer long and pretty. It's actually very very short. Are the hair flips necessary? Because I think I'd look like I needed an exorcism without the long hair. |

ummm, hair clips!!
Actually the wig has got a good elastic grippy thing, and once I've pulled my hair back into a hairnet, it's quite easy. Here are some shots - my real hair is the length in my atavar... Oh! It's me on the right! ![]() ![]() The other shot isn't me!! and I don't know how to remove it!

I think I'll consider getting one. So the hair flips are pretty much a key element of the style? |

Well, I'm no expert - just a beginner - but it does seem to be a pretty big part of it. When A'isha gets on I'm sure she'll tell you - or Kashmir. Both of them are quite hot on this style. I love the little tiny bit I've done, it's so girly and fun too. The thobes nashal are stunning, and you keep on adding to them as you go. There are not many examples of it on YouTube though, and some of them are pretty awful. I'll go look for a reasonable one (I'm sure I found one earlier this year) and post it here.l

Kashmir's site has a great pattern for the thobe - it's where I got my pattern from (plus I'm one of her students!). I'm still working on the thobe itself, it's a work in progress - but that's part of the appeal...to have a garment that I can add to each time I perform will mean each embroidery will have meaning!
