Hi,
In all the years I have been dancing, I tend to notice a large difference between the style I perform and others. What I learned to do were larger, dramatic, powerful movements...a lot of other dancers use very small isolations. I asked in another thread if anyone was familiar with Jordanian dance, as that was the style I first learned. Later I learned others but there is a definite 'drama' to the way I dance that I don't see in other dancers. I sometimes wonder if people will not think I am an 'accomplished' dancer because I dance so differently. I have been dancing, learning, and teaching for eight years. I wanted to know if anyone knew any examples of that sort of bellydance so that even if I can't find videos or examples of Jordanian I will know how to describe my style of dancing or at least I can see what area of the world where that form of bellydance is popular. Any thoughts? I do not have a video of myself performing that I can post; all I can do is describe. -Brea |
