Well see that's difficult for me to really say. Cause i've been exposed to every style. So when I dance, what tends to come out is a combination of

American Cabaret/Gothic/Egyptian/Turkish/Tribal/Fusion Is there a catagory for all that?
Usually I just say I do fusion/Egyptian/Turkish...

...I'm very confused. Now that I think about it...

What about the dancers of Europe? Is there really a EuroCab style or was that just for a joke? My teachers are not quite egyptian ot turkish, but not really AmCab after what I've seen here or on youTube. I think many of them have been to study with Beata and Horacio Cifuentes. Is that their own "Oriental fantasy"-style or is it a variation of american cabaret?

Gisela,

I tend to think that European and Russian dancers have more of an Egyptian influence in their styles than Americans because of the greater access to Egypt and Egyptian style dancing and the popularity of the Cairo dancers and influence of Raqia Hassan.

But dont get me wrong, they still dance Egyptian style with a Western accent (read ballet and gymnastic influences). Which I think is lovely and refreshing to watch. Im always impressed by Russian dancers technical skills.

Natalia is one of my favorite Russian style dancers: YouTube - Natalia Strelchenko-Bellydancer

Hmm..come to think of it, who are the great European Turkish style dancers...I dont know of any...maybe another thread here addresses this topic. I only pop in here from time to time....

Dear Gisela,
Beata used to be one amazing Egyptian style dancer, but now she is into that Cinderella stuff, or whatever it is, with Horacio. His dancing has always been just too.... wormy or something for my taste. I think he must have been a better ballet dancer than he has ever been a belly dancer. I feel sad that Beata seems so far away from the meat of the dance now... and Horacio never seems to have quite gotten it.
Regards,
A'isha

Physical theater is a branch of contemporary dance (in german Tanztheater). It's a mixture of theater and dance.

It was created by Pina Bauch. here are some example:
YouTube - Pina Bausch Tanztheater Wuppertal in Ottawa (Canada)
YouTube - Le Sacre Du Printemps by Pina Bausch Wuppertal Dance Theater
YouTube - Unser Vater - Tanztheater Dito

Default Oriental dance mixed with Indonesian style

Right now my favourite style is Oriental mixed with Indonesian style.
I live in Holland, my parents are from an island in Indonesia that is called Moluccan.I brought up with the Indonesian dance, like the so called menare lenso (dance with the handkerchief) and the cakalele (warrior dance)
Now I have create my own style of dancing. I call it Bellindonesian dance.
April the 19th we will organise a workshop together with Catherine Ruillet, from Italy. She is doing Cabaret Style, and I will give a short Bellindonesian dance workshop.
See: Home
For the Bellydancers from Holland...Come and join.
