Dear Jen,
Bedlah is just the Arabic word for costume. There is no difference between what we think of as bedlah and a cabaret costume. I have heard some people say that Arabs don't use the word "Cabaret", but I have heard it used in correlation with nightclubs.
Regards,
A'isha

True, but lets not forget that bedlah also means suit.. like a man wears for formal dress.

I thought bedlah referred to the bra-top-and-belt set?

Dear daSage,
The word just means "costume" in general. I may have said above that among belly dancers it seems to have a specific meaning.
Regards,
A.

Bedlah means suit for men. The word was used only for mens suits and not applied to women.
This is the Arabic meaning and was taken and adapted later for Bedlit Raqs (dancing suit). Dont know why this word in particular I but can ask.
Het titeen means 2 piece.
