Dear Suheir and Rico,
Of the three clips, I definitely would vote for Ellen, who actually HAS some grace and rhythm that comes naturally from her heart and soul! She also did not even once say that the was doing any version of belly dance, so who can find fault? She's a good girl, that Ellen!! Regards, A'isha PS did anyone see Ellen's coming out dance?? It was fabulous!! |

I thought that both the dancers had some skill, and the soloist in particular had very nice arms. She would have been more interesting to watch without the extra facial costuming.
I just don't get off on that "techno-tribal" music, as it is pretty soul-less. In the BDSM "dance" I wonder who the poor jerk was who agreed to be her pathetic slave. I thought the overall effect was creepy. In general I agree with the rest of you guys, pretty boring. I just wasn't really entertained. Make me laugh, or do something really cute, or dazzle me with great technique, and I'm entertained. If a dance is about angst, there better be some great music and/or movement backing it up, for me. I was more entertained watching the 3 and 4 year old baby ballerinas dancing this past weekend at the San Diego County Fair. At least they weren't pretentious, and were adorably cute. Here's a little message for those two preceding choreographers:

-Belly break, a style invented and COPYRIGHTED (no joke, she told someone on Bhuz off for using that name) by a Dutch dancer called Yamila. There is a video of this on Youtube, but I can't find it. To be honest that dancing style looks weird.
-belly gymnastics BTW I find that Princess Leia video a bit scary, her bum is half hanging out! Last edited by Amulya; 06-21-2007 at 11:05 AM. |
