oh my, that Super sexy (NOT!) goddess "belly dance" was incredibly boring, and so loong.
Do you think the stripper community is upset over the stripper-tag on this vid? Because I didn't see any real stripping (thank god) but since it's marked as that... ![]() |

that star wars one was too funny. Its rather silly how many fusion styles are out there. Some of it I look at and figure it must be tongue in cheek ....like the star wars one is clearly goofballian and for the purpose of the event, the pirate one SHOULD be that...unless they are followers of the flying spaghetti monster then of course pirate bellydance is part of this very serious religion and we must respect this.
![]() It is really interesting how something that can be event related and appropriate in its given context (doing a 'raqs gothique' around halloween or for your friend's party who loves that sort of style in a given place/event) can take off and ahoy matey! we gotta whole new dance variant. I guess the question is why there is the need to fuse bellydance with everything. but then there is salsa-contra-dancing (salsa moves with a caller done in a square/contra dance style - I have a friend who is really into this - no joke!) so I guess other dance styles are not immune to such combos The thing I find funny is that straight up bellydance is plenty exciting enough on its own without having to add anything more to it. Not that its not fun in a given situation on occassion, but to make a movement out of it is a little much, I think. just my 3cents anyways.... |

I would really like to see some Hip Hip Belly Dance Fusion. I think that could produce some really creative movements. Not to mention the music. If anyone has any information about this style, let me know. Thanks.

This is Tina Rasmussen and her troupe doing hip hop/belly dance fusion at the Oslo Oriental Dance Festival last February: http://www.orientaldancefestival.no/bilder/DSC_2376.jpg
It worked because it had proper hip hop moves and they could execute them properly! |

Minoan priestesses have always been a fantasy of mine, right behind cheerleaders.
And let's not omit "Ellydance." Watch close and you might see a veil...
