Honestly, this girl doesn't deserve this many posts. I thinks she was discussed and debated enough. Everthing about her irritates me. Lets move on to something else folks!!!

Dear youtube addicts(including me),

Lets find something else!!!

OK, I have found a fusion too far IMO.

I can't post the whole link because a very unsuitable word comes up. If you want to find it and don't mind extremely unlovely lyrics, don't say I haven't warned you, search YouTube for bellydance dark fusion.

I just cannot see the point. Dark goth stuff, mysterious moves etc etc OK I see what they are doing, but this? Words fail me. (and I can't help wondering if her mother is proud of her). Still, the audience don't seem to bat an eyelid, perhaps I just don't get out enough....

Um yea. I was not impressed by the above clip. I couldn't watch the whole thing - obviously she was really enthusiastic and loves the dance, but I think her song choice was just edgy for the sake of being edgy. I didn't "get" whatever I was supposed to. Maybe I'm too sheltered.

[quote=Moon;35760]If I can think for a few seconds I usually got left and right right. Also it helps to remember with which hand I'm writing, lol.

We went terribly off-topic by the way

I found a clip of zombie-bellydance (ok they called it zombie-fusion, which is not bad, but it's tagged as bellydance)

I know this is about 10 pages back, but bear with me.
That's my troupe in the video. We're dancing at a Halloween themed event that is just for the local BD community, so it's not like we are confusing the general public intentionally with our wackiness.
I find it hilarious that this could be construed at an actual honest-to-God attempt at creating a new fusion genre.
The reason it has BD in the tag is because that's what we usually do.
I think most everyone understood that this was the case. However, I think you need to look at some of the wacky videos out there and try to put them in context. It's not like they are intended as an assualt on bellydance.

and now, the REAL wave of the future: robot bellydance.

The zombie and robot clips are GREAT!! I love it! I wish I lived near enough to watch these haflas. I'll bet they're a riot!

What's the song from the zombie dance? I swear it sounds familiar...

It's called Ramalama Bang Bang by Roisin Murphy. We stole it from So You Think You Can Dance.
The original SYTYCD zombie dance was so cool it hurt. This is just an homage.

Shanazel, I absolutely adore your sense of humor!

A lot of these video clips I can't even watch all the way through---what's next, Hokey Pokey Belly Fusion?

Oh, Suheir, I've watched the video clips of bad dancing without audio because it's still very early in the morning over here (and I didn't want to wake anyone). I don't know which is would be more painful---bad dancing with sound, or without....

Dear Sarakat,
Considering what people are foisting off on the public as both belly dance and fusion, I wish I also could find it hilarious. Unfortunately, it gets harder and harder to tell when people are joking and when they are for real as some of the stuff passed off as "real fusion" looks much like what you presented.
And I don't think anyone who knows me would accuse me of not having a sense of humor, either.
Regards,
A'isha

Oh I only just noticed you quoted me, Sarakat.

I think the problem is some people start thinking they can do whatever they like with bellydance when they see videos like that. Sometimes beginners who aren't good at "real bellydance" yet or don't have the patient to become good, start doing this kind of fusions to hide bad technique and they think they can do whatever they want because they're being "creative". Sure you can be creative, but I personally prefer to see a little more bellydance in a video that is tagged as bellydance. Maybe because when I search for bellydance, I expect to see videos with bellydance (yes I still have some hope for youtube, lol).
That doesn't mean you can never do some fantasyish dance though, it can be quite fun. I liked the name "zombie fusion". As long as you also have enough knowledge of the real dance form and master the technique there's nothing wrong with it, but I wouldn't have tagged it as bellydance myself. Just my opinion
