My first dance education was 13 years of estonian folkdance and ballet. Now I study choreography in uni, therefore I have modern dance, classical dance and character dance practical lessons.

Now I am curious...what is character dance? Is it dance for musical theater, like a Broadway show? Or is it something else? It sounds like fun, whatever it is!

On my "to-try" list of other dances:

- Flamenco
- Indian, either traditional styles or a more Bollywoodian style

I attended a Spanish/Oriental fusion workshop in the past and I really loved it. I've also seen a few flamenco performances and they blew my breath away. So Flamenco is high up in my list! I unfortunately cannot find any classes in my neighborhood, so that ain't going to happen anytime soon

As for Indian dance(s), I'd say that I'm more "intrigued" by them. I might just give it a try some day!

And of course I'd like to do some ballroom or salsa, but the hubby has 2 left feet and I don't want to go alone

Hi!

Character dance if folkloric dance taken to the stage, with ballet bases. For example in character dance you have russian, hungarian, greec, spanish, qypsy, etc. dances. A lesson starts with barre technique. Acorbatics is alos importent. The dance in general demands a strong personality, expression and emotions.

Here is an example of russian character dance:

I started to take Ballet after taking 5 years of Oriental. It is fun, but it's discipline, so sometimes it gets difficult.

I like Hip-Hop and Break...They are different, I'll say that much, but they are definitely good styles.
