this is not the other thread.
So here's my Q: I'm going to Richmond for a private with Nashwa. I want to ask her about specific Egyptian kinds of dance. She's done a beledi workshop, and I want to pursue that. What other kinds of strictly Egyptian STYLES of dance should I know about? I just learned about Iskandarian style. I know of Sharqi, Saidi, Shaabi, and Egyptian Ghawazee (I'm not sure Nashwa knows about that tho) --what else should I ask about? Any region-specific dance styles? I was wondering about Nubian and Sudanese and I'll ask her about those. What else? Your help is greatly appreciated! |

- Fellahi
- Simsimeya / Bambouteya - different Bedouin styles - Haggala (which actually is one bedouin style) - Dabka (in many countries: Palestinian, Libanese. But in Egypt in North Sinai has dance almost same as Libanese style) |
