Miss Shimmy, first start making the tassels, buy yarn of diferent colors, then make the base of the belt, cut two pieces of sturdy fabric of the same size about 3 1/2" wide each, messure your hips and make the lengh acordingly, sew the pieces with right sides together leaving one end open to turn it over then turn the open ends inside and sew; if the tassel are big attach one at a time if small you can sew two instead, keep in mind that you still need to decorate the belt beside the tassels. let me know if you need more especifics, or if you have some questions. Marie

Miss Shimmy, it doesn't have much information, but this site: http://www.medanz.org.nz/tribal.html might have a few tips on things that you could modify to get the same effect.

I believe the tassels "yarn balls" are just a length of yarn wrapped around an object (something flat like a business card or piece of cardboard) wrap it a bunch of times around with the yarn overlapping each other. Then wrap your thread under the layers of yarn and bring around to the front, slide to the top of the card and tie a knot around the bunch of yarns. Tie it a couple times, tightly. Then cut the yard at the opposite end where you tied!
here's another way: http://www.fiber-images.com/Free_Thi...ake_pompom.htm |
