Default Mahmoud Reda Style headpiece??

Hi everybody,

I'm looking into headpieces to go with our troupe's new Saidi gowns, and came across a video of Mahmoud Reda that had really nice ones in it.
I can't find the video right now, but thing is they sort of go around the head, tie at the back and then have long fabric hanging from the back of the head.

Does anybody know what I mean? I'm asking because Im hoping somebody will have an idea on how to make them, tie them, or have a pattern I might use...

Thanks in advance!!

Dear Amulya,

I got it, yes, I was trying to reply to your thread and then by accident posted my own question. The hipscarf idea is good but I'm looking for something different.

Dearest Janaki,

YES AND YES!!! Those exactly. I Love the ones in the first clip. Those are perfect. Do you perhaps know how to make them, or point me towards a pattern so I could find out?

Thank you girls so much!

Hi Yshka,

I have seen one of them in person from an egyptian teacher I was studying with. It looked like a half panel from a circle skirt but smaller and add a tape/belt and the top edge to tie it around the head. Perhaps you can experiment with an old piece of cloth first. Here is the link to make the the circle skirt. If you make this smaller size, each circle skirt should give you two head dresses. Don't cut a circular hole in the middle. Just cut across in the middle. They should look like half circles. Belt should be the same length as the straight edge of the fabric. Now measure your head and use 3/4 of it's circumference(ex 22 inches). Attach the belt only 22 inches in the center of the straight edge, both ends free to tie. Hope you are able to understand my crappy english. Hope it works!!!

Circular skirt directions

Hugs
Janaki

Here are some images that show head piece with ribbons tied on the back. It is usually used as hegab with many layers, but maybe you will be able to play with this idea and come up with what you need.

Sorry my model is a little bit stiff and has a bad hair day.

Janaki dear, don't worry, your English is perfect! Thank you! Your description sounds logical, I'm going to have our seamstress take a look and see what we can come up with!!

Dear Masrawy,
You've been great help already. I'm going to see if this works out.
I know this look. I didn't think of it before though, but working around it a bit might come up with something really nice. I see long and colourful fabric....

And don't worry about the hair, as long as we don't look stiff and as if we're having a bad hairday when wearing them it should all be just fine
(If we do, thank god we'll be wearing nice headdresses...)

Alf shokr to both of you!!!!

If the Forum Powers allow me to give reputation you'll both be getting some...

Hegab?! It looks more of a traditional Saidi look than hegab.

You are quite right it look Saidi and that is what Yshka is after I was just trying to give her some ideas so she can expand on. I did make a mistake and worte "Hegab" which is not correct, it is "Nekab" which is the fully headcover that Muslim women use in the middle east. It does have several layers so it can cover as little or as much as the woman need.
