Hey everyone, I have a costume question for all of you,
I have an absolutely gorgeous cabaret costume and it came with gauntlet gloves...I love them but after maybe 5-10 minutes of dancing they start to come loose and fall down my arms. They really arent huge compared to my arm size, but enough that they slide down. The rest of the costume is perfect size wise. I love these gloves, any advice on how to wear them? Have any of you experienced the same problem? Thanks |

Hi,
There is a kind of wide elastic band that has rubber dots or stripes on one side. I put this inside around the top edge of my gauntlets and they really do stay in place. You have to be carful though because you might get temporary bands of dots on you upper arms, like after wearing tight socks. No big deal really UNLESS you are changing into another costume cut in another way and performing directly after. That could look odd. Otherwise it's really doing the trick.

If all else fails, try some of the temporary adhesive used in quilting to hold fabric in place before it is stitched. It won't hurt you or the costume if you use it in a well ventilated area (be sure and check the warning label to make sure).

I know some people also use the sticky band at the top of stay-up stockings. They just cut it off and use it for the skirts or whatever that needs to stay in place.
