Doesn't that muck up the floor, or the suede soles of dance shoes? I have no experience with talc in dance, but it seems...messy.

I may have. If these are authentic Indian mojari, they're made with vegetable tanned animal hydes and they are SUPER stiff and uncomfortable...I'd pass on them...
HOWEVER...if these are made to look like the real thing and are made from cloth, get em! I found 4 pair in gorgeous colors one year at a trendy boutique and I wear them often...they're gorgeous and dance well! The 'real' tanned leather shoes take ages to break in...

Thanks for that Gia - I had heard that they take a while to break in and you have to walk around wearing wet socks in them until they shape to your foot.

Yes...they do...and they will...but even after, they are SUPER INFLEXIBLE and not what I'd recommend to dance in.
BUT...do not dispair! If you have any trendy girl's clothing store near you, (we have Mandees, Joyce Leslie here) many of the ballet-flat shoes have this kind of decoration and stand in VERY well for outdoor dance shoes!!!
