Default Khaleehy/Khaleeji Thobe

Salaam, Ladies.

I'm taking a few khaleegy workshops in the summer and fall, and thought it was a good idea to purchase my own thobe nashal. I found a few online, but they seem to be for performance (aka they are expensive). Does anyone know where I can get a decent saudi thobe for $75 or under? I saw a few on ebay, but they were too short. I need at least "56 inches, preferably "58.

Thanks!

I've made mine using a pattern from Kashmir's (Raqs - Middle Eastern Dance - with Kashmir) site - it's really easy and then you have something that you can be proud of and continue to decorate.
The length in the front should just touch the ground, while the back should drape a little, so actual length will vary a bit. Kashmir's pattern makes up very easily and looks great!

Thanks, adiemus. However, at the moment, I'm really looking to buy. I have no time between two jobs and going for another degree soon. If I wasn't so busy I'd give it a go, though.

Is that your thobe, Gia? It is gorgeous. I am 5'7" tall- how would it be for length on someone my height? I confess I have no idea how tall you are...

Errrr I got this one from Cairo for 25 euro this means 20 $ and makes us all mad about how much prices go up...... its the exact one and colour and design, and got it in 3 colours for group dance also, i'm wearing it in this video (the colour seems different because of the lighting)

Well, that is a considerable difference in price, to say the least. Wanna go shopping in Cairo for me?

The one that I purchased is black and gold...
I'm 5'3" and it is at least 5 inches too long!
If you go through that site, you can ask the owner to measure...she's terrific and always gives my students great service (g'head...drop my name!)
Maria...I completely agree...it would be a BLESSING if we could get such low prices on our costumes here...Most of these stores double for retail, which is quite common...sometimes they need to add in the cost of shipping, maybe duty charges from overseas...I've honestly never seen them LESS expensive for sale online or in the US...

If you need it for practising you could try making one and then invest in a really beautiful one when for performance etc.?

Well, I'm not interested in performing. I take dance classes and workshops for my own personal benefit only. So I think it's better to just buy a cheap thobe for practicing.
