I've seen those all crocheted ones too - they look beautiful but the one I tried didn't go round my hips A crochet base sounds nice, shame to have to use a less than perfect colour fabric. |

You make some very good points, Aniseteph, but I still like the idea of a very light interfacing (like tricot, perhaps?) to keep the hangy-down part of the stretch velvet from sagging under the weight of the crochet and beads. Interfacing would also keep the part of the scarf that curves over your butt from cupping or stretching unevenly. Using grosgrain ribbon to stabilize the upper edge even further is a great idea, though, and might even add some friction to the scarf so it would slip so readily. How in heavens name I can lose a scarf off hips like mine is beyond my clear understanding, but I lose them I do.
Oh, lord, you all realize what the upshot of all this is, don't you? I am going to have to go out, buy some crochet thread, crushed stretch velvet, interfacing, and beads and try it for myself. I don't have time for this, but now I am sooooo curious. Last edited by Shanazel; 02-17-2008 at 12:10 AM. |
