Another problem about it is that it is 1,5m wide and I wish I only need about 30-40 cm as my scarf is going to be narrow, unlike most ip-scarves on the market.... So being so wide I would get away with buying 40cm of it, but it stretches in width.... I dunno how to explain, but if I want it to stretch top to bottom and not tie to tie then I need to buy 1,5 m of it and cut the width to 40 cm...LOL
Think I see. If you still want a tied hipscarf efffect, you could line it with something non-stretch that will stop it stretching out in the tie-to-tie direction. Or leave it unlined/interfaced and stitch a non-stretch matching ribbon along the top on the inside (and all the way into the tie part) to stabilise the upper edge. Or just line the upper edge. Leave the interfacing for the belts!

I've seen those all crocheted ones too - they look beautiful but the one I tried didn't go round my hips A crochet base sounds nice, shame to have to use a less than perfect colour fabric.

You make some very good points, Aniseteph, but I still like the idea of a very light interfacing (like tricot, perhaps?) to keep the hangy-down part of the stretch velvet from sagging under the weight of the crochet and beads. Interfacing would also keep the part of the scarf that curves over your butt from cupping or stretching unevenly. Using grosgrain ribbon to stabilize the upper edge even further is a great idea, though, and might even add some friction to the scarf so it would slip so readily. How in heavens name I can lose a scarf off hips like mine is beyond my clear understanding, but I lose them I do.

Oh, lord, you all realize what the upshot of all this is, don't you? I am going to have to go out, buy some crochet thread, crushed stretch velvet, interfacing, and beads and try it for myself. I don't have time for this, but now I am sooooo curious.
