Hi all,
Crowns make me look like Wonder Woman, or a weird cross between a hippie and Zsa Zsa Gabor. Does anyone like crowns? Or had good experiences with them? My one experience with crowns (the only time I ever used one) it fell out and got stuck in my hair while I was doing a backbend! I do admit I like those silver-coin crown-esque things that you can pin into your hair. I don't know what they are called but I used to have a ton of them. Still- bobby pins are the way to go with those things!

I've never really worn any headbands or crowns or anything as such for dancing. I guess having something in my hair would be more of a distraction to me. Me and a few friends of mine sometimes wear crowns in our "civil life" - it is sort of a trademark we have when we travel around in Europe. But I don't think I have seen a crown that would match a dance costume yet... I think it should be something more modest, nothing too fancy to fit...

I think belly dancers hair look nice and flowy without those huge turban style headbands and crowns. They don't suite all faces. I think crowns are not practical. But a crown that matches the style of the costume may look good. I am not a crown type btw, since I am walking around with the invisible one all the time.LOL

Headbands ok, but crowns got to go, NOW!
They are quite popular in Australia, don't know why. Crowns used to be a fashion thing in belly dance in the 90's and luckily most people forgot about them. But here they have a thing with crowns...

Whenever i see a bellydancer with a crown I think to my self:
Ok now we have the bellydancer and the cinderella in one that wants to be the princess !!! lol I've seen some live with it and i just find it extra silly. Just my opinion On the other hand floating hair are beautifull for a dancer/bellydancer but if you have such long hair like mine and plenty you just have to grab them somehow cause other way they fall in your face all the time. Well we can always go for the Dancing Curtain style ![]() kisses Maria Aya |

As for a crown wearing BD'ers, no it doesn't appeal to me at all. I loved crowns and wands and fairy wings when I was 8, I gave it all up when I turned the grand old age of 10! |

Never tried one myself - but it seems that it would be a real problem with a veil. I've even found that hairflowers can be a real problem with a veil!
I've seen some that look nice (Jillina? Doesn't she wear one sometimes?), but it does need to be the "right" dancer with the "right" costume, blah, blah. Don't ask me to define that!
