Are you going to put your costumes for sale Maria. They all sound wicked and awsome. Many "nuts" in the world are very creative and successful people. We all have to have little "nutty" side to us. I am a nut myself!!!! Hi adiemus, I would like to explain about (wierd/ugly) the blue and pink costume. (I am with another girl in the picture). This costume I designed for a show that has a masquerade/carnival/brazil theme. I was asked to use pink and blue colours. My materials for the costume were, pink feather boas, pink masks ( you can see them stuck on the bra and belt), red pom poms, which I used on the belt, I sew pink feather boas at the bottom of the pants. I used blue lycra knee length pants ( I bought them for US5 each). We were dancing a samba piece called "Alibaba" . 2 more pics for you. One with a turban, and another with a Carmen Miranda style headdress. I love to work with red and black. Couple more of my black and red costume. The one with my drummer has lot of work on the back side. I call this "Butt special". Some one stop me pls! I am so excited and I can't stop posting the costumes. |

Janaki you are inspirational!! And here was me getting all excited about completing one and doing my second!! But I have another one on the go as well, and I've made a couple of practice choli's and little crop tops as well. Must have a go at some legging things sometime - but I get so hot dancing I hate having things on my legs, would much prefer a skirt!!

This is what I have to re-build. The top is way too small, with no support to it. I'd love some suggestions. I am thinking about taking one of my white tanktops and basically sewing it to the front, then clipping the back into a V and beading that, similar to how some wedding dresses are. The other idea was to corset up the back. But I need to do something with it, my significant other wont let me wear it out of my dressing room right now,

Those are bra cups underneath? If so, attach the cups together under the bustline and clear around your back with heavy grosgrain ribbon to give yourself some underneath support. I'd also add ribbon down the side of each cup so that the sides attach to the back as well. This ribbon can actually extend from the back, up the side of the cup, around your neck for a halter, down the side of the opposite cup and around the back to join with the main back. Basically, you'd be building a bra underneath the cover with the cups that are already there. Then you can cover the exposed ribbon with trim. to match the rest of the costume.

That wasn't my fault, I meant to type Janaki but my fingers slipped sorry sorry sorry!!!! It's all these wonderful women - I get all confused.
Good idea Shanazel, I was struggling to think of some suggestions for that, it would be such a shame to let that costume go to waste. Nightdancer, you could also add in some bra cups (eg from a swimsuit, or actually take a halter bra and do the same thing), but it would still be quite a lot of work.
