Everything old is now new. Not to worry.

Old topic, but anyway...

My first costume was AWFUL! A bad attempt to cover an old bra and a peach rayon veil coupled with an unevenly hemed blue circle skirt and a cheap coin belt from India. Well, it was my pre-internet days (mid '90s) and my teacher said NOTHING! I wish she would have just stopped me. No pictures thank goodness! She always discouraged us from buying costumes, I don't know why.

Mine also discourages us... for the mere fact that often it's a high price tag with not such high quality... and making your own is sooo much fun

I'm making my first costume with my teacher next weekend... it's going to be a flurry of purple and orange, here's hoping I don't end up under UBDCs!!

Will come post a pic when I'm done.

My first costume!
This is my class and I in my beloved first costume (I am the one in the mauve galabeya, fourth from the left).

I first wore it in Cairo last November, for a Nancy Agram choreo, but this picture was taken last Friday here in Crete.

Default My First!

When I say 'my first costume', I'm talking about the first one in which I performed, but honestly it's also the first costume, period.

It was an eclectic blend of alot of things that I had on hand. Some were BD-specific, whereas others were not. It consisted of a bodice from Renfaire(not BD specific, but it worked!) over a black peasant top, harem pants, a yarn belt over a belled belly chain, and yarn dreads (also not BD specific, I'm actually wearing them as I type!)

Seeing as my first performance was a fusion piece, I think it worked pretty well.

LOL. Butterfly tops are pretty common, it seems.

Hideous to wear, isnt it? >_<
