Default What kind of costume is this?

I'm still putting thought into my photo session and the costume for my friend. I was wondering if you could tell me about what this woman is wearing. Is this a panel skirt? Or is it some kind of pant?

I thought about buying a dance scarf/veil as a part of the prop collection which is pictured or linked below the first one. Maybe not this particular one. If the image does show up, it's at

It is a skirt with two slits... up each thigh. I am assuming you are having a hard time seeing the skirt because of the sitting position she is in.

It looks like a skirt to me too, because it looks like some of the hem line on the floor in front of her left knee. If it were pants it wouldn't be that way.

Looks to me like a circle skirt with a quarter circle for the front panel and perhaps a half circle for the back. The panels are either sewn togther only at the hip band or maybe not at all for maximum leg exposure. Also looks like each panel is at least a couple of layers of chiffon or georgette or some such fabric. It would not be hard to make as long as you have some experience in dealing with light frustrating fabrics. I used to make circle skirts attached to a flesh-toned waistband, which was then covered with a separate belt, but you can also attach the skirt directly to the decorated hip band.

The veil is a shortened sari.
It's great for decoration...not for dancing...
You should be able to find them for little money on eBay!
