being super tall my whole life.... I always HATED the added on to the hem look... (tall girls will know what I mean!!!)...
for my bellydance costumes I usually add on to the TOP of the skirt.... (where it is covered by the belt & if super short (so has ALOT added to the top...)I can cover it w. a scarf, THEN bd belt/coin sash/whatever!!!)...
plus it is usually WAY easier/way less fabric/way more forgiving for novice/or sloppy sewers to add onto top, rather than hem!!!
sometimes I only have to open up the elastic casing, then add a new casing, sometimes I have to add even MORE fabric to the top.... but works well... you really MUST learn haw to sew (easier than driving!!! most damage you can do is run over a finger!!!!)
