Thanks, everybody!
Kalila_raks, from reading those excellent instructions and picturing the fabric I have available around here, it seems like that would be sort of short. I know you said this would be an overskirt so I know it'll be shorter than the bottom skirt, but I'm just trying to picture how short. Anybody made this since she posted that and can post a pic? I've made two of them, and they are both full length. I don't recall how wide the fabric was that I started with, but keep in mind that you're turning the squares diagonally. It will turn out longer than you expect.

Love the skirt here (whole costume really):
YouTube - Blanca (NYC)belly dance, bellydance, Sensual Bellydance DVD And this video snippet doesn't do it justice. I've got the DVD this seems to be from ("Sensual Bellydance") and the colors are much more vibrant than that. It's a very "mermaid" look with gorgeous greens & blues. |
