The thing is ... We are not a one woman company and the marketing section uses ...erm,just about everything to promote the classes. I mean the final aim is to expose Belly dance styles to Maltese people... and spread it as much as we can. back to Belly Dance fashion. I would like to take pictures of some of my costumes...Not the ones that I buy or that others design for me , one that i design ...and then i want to know your opinions. I am quite determined so if i like something which people don't like... I will still wear it ...but i am curious to see what you think! This part of the forum is great! I wish me and my dancers had more time to see everything |

Heehee.. well, I guess tastes do vary, I'm sure I like some costumes that others would call UBDC. I actually like the old time Mata-Hari look - but would probably redesign the bras just a bit so they didn't look like targets! I was working on a costume that was leopard print velveteen on the bra and belt and was going to layer animal print and black skirts under it. I was putting black holo sequins and beads over the spots to make them flashy. Unfortunately, when I moved I lost that costume. Sighs. I also had a lovely one with gold lame and then silver holographic sequins and silver lined clear seed beads and lots of jewels that I made that I lost too. However, I didn't use fired seed beads - I didn't realize you had too! So they began to tarnish. Big lesson learned ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Look at this costume it is sold online and its under the section of professional... I mean whatever you are going to do with your upper part of the tummy it can't even be seen! these with the hole thing are really not for belly dancing . Belly rolls can' be seen properly like that! bdw i am a big belly roller i do it all the time ..it relaxes me so i try to keep my tops off my tummy. I prefere to see more tummy then cleavage . I mean i dont mind the cleavage either but the tummy is a must!
Belly Dance Costumes, Belly Dance Costume and accesories lessons, costumes for dancing A question: how can i paste a picture straight to the forum? |

I don't know what's wrong with it. Bellyrolls aren't essential. In Egyptian style the belly is used as part of a move - not as a mobe by itself. personally I want something that hides my belly a little. I'm average size woman with XXL belly grafted on front. OK I need to lose weught as I risk diabetes, but for now I need camoflage!!

However, we are a friendly interantional bunch, as long as we are not flooded with meaningless advertising.... ![]() ![]() ![]() Phoebe, it must have been horribe!!! So much hard work!!! What are fired seed beads? Jenc I agree with you as for camoufage..LOL Remembering also that in some countries one is required to cover up the tummy anyhow... As we all see, tastes differ, the main point it should be tasteful and flattering and by no means vulgar! ![]()

I just read that if you didn't want the silver lined beads to tarnish - read this yesterday.. lol.. that you should use fired beads. Maybe czech beads? I'm still doing research into this and I'll let you know when I find out myself, cause I love silver lined beads and absolutely was in tears when I unpacked that costume and saw the tarnish. I'm for a little tummy camoflaugue too. Wouldn't even think of dancing without a fishnet over that area and I like a little artistic draping there, though not the whole thing covered when I'm in Bedlah. |

I admit that the GP will often expect to see a beauteous young thang in a V shaped belt and water fringed bra but the Egyptian experience is often very different. Watching dancers in Egypt this vacation I noted they all wore frocks!!!!!No bare midriffs what -so- ever.... no ,seeing the tummy BARE is NOT a must but seeing powerful and skilful moves through fabric IS! |

Some of the more delicate vibrations show better on bare skin. I love the look of a bare middle, but then I am an old fashioned AmCAb dancer who never quite adjusted to the evening gown style attire often used by belly dancers. As Reenie says, tastes differ, and I too prefer tummy to cleavage.
