Sexy~PURPLE/GOLD~Belly Dance Costume-Hip Scarf~Bra top - eBay (item 310042686165 end time Apr-25-08 13:38:22 PDT)

Ok I know many dancers love these but what were they thinking when someone said this design of top was suitable for belly dancing? Where did the idea come from?

Not necessarily that ugly just my bete noire of costumes..irrational ?

That is monstrous - nearly had a keyboard disaster. Versatile though - "latin/cabaret/belly/pole"

I agree with Lizaj on the butterfly tops - I can't imagine them working unless you are young and lithe and don't need a bra. (I don't want to imagine them not working...)

I wasn't actually there, but I've heard tell of a woman turning up to a workshop in one and no bra - apparently she was happily flashing the entire room pretty much constantly

I agree too, I have no idea what these butterfly tops to do with belly dancing and are completely impractical to anyone post-pubescent woman - maybe we should start a campaign to stop them!

They do not look that ugly, but I can see everyone's points...No bra, nothing to hold the girl's in and flashing in workshops! lol Yeah...If only the top was redone so it had bra straps and more fitting through the sides. Personally, I wouldn't wear it, but for someone else, it may be appropriate...lol

I used to have a sort-of butterfly top, never used it to perform in though. It didn't seem...well, safe.

Exactly I have been flashed at side ways and underways by women who seem to think these butterflies have magical properties and will hold in a normal woman's bosom securely.
