As to the discussion about classwear, perfumeshop is right: we do wear circle skirts for our performances, and the ususal leggings/yoga pants for classwear. Skirts are too hard, and there's not enough room in the hall for everybody!!

Skirt styles: I haven't been game enough to try a trumpet skirt before - I have the irrational fear that they will cling to every lump and bump and be most unflattering. Straight skirts likewise give me the heebies. Tell me I'm wrong? I hadn't thought of losing the fringing in the circle skirts; thanks for pointing that out Mya!

They seem to go well with black pinstripe suit pants... maybe I could start a new trend...?
LRose's don't .....well not the velvet and I would suspect the lycra neither as I have never heard that complaint

Mmmmm Straight and tight is not nice especially not with the wrong kind of split. But get them right and they can look classy.

One thing to be avoided,IMHO, is the mermaid look with a lower part made of see through chiffon who whatever...I'm sure someone will prove me wrong someday by looking fabulous in the desgn but usually it's not flattering.

Better than being black with despair, red with chagrin, purple with anger, yellow with greed, or orange from cheap self-tanner.

Gwin.... you 1st & formost, you MUST follow the contours of YOUR body!!!!
I DO understand your fear of mermaid & straight skirts... (though, I must say, if you wear your belt LOWER than in the photo.... most all lumps/bumps will be covered by fringe!!!!...) what I find works well are those swirl skirts... If I recall, you sew???? I think Artemis imports has a pattern... Atira's Suzanna's swirl skirt, I THINK it is called... anyhow... gives enough slimness thru hips/thighs that fringe does not get lost in folds, but not soooo tight it is "lumpy"!!!
i also like the idea of turquoise... or how bout royal blue.... oooohhh I also love the combo of those 2 colors....
ALSO... TIP from LUMPY girl.... prints (if not to busy to "lose" fringe) or lace or brocade patterned fabrics help disguise lumps & bumps!!!!!

****************what is also FUN! ,is to find UGLY prom/bridesmaid dresses at a thrift store, & cut off the skirt, just add elastic.... you can have hoards of skirts for minimal investment, & try bunches of different looks for cheap!!!!***********
show us pics of final decisions!!!

(belated) Thank you all for your comments! I wore this set recently with a bright turquoise circle skirt, and they looked really good together:

(I know, the veil looks poxy)

I'm glad my 'first' ended up being such a versatile set!

Yes! I like chocolate and brown. Gold pretty much goes with everything...Pick your favorite color that looks the best on you and go from there. It is a beautiful set. I have thought of ordering one too...I didn't look to see if they have silver?

Lovely combination, Gwinity! I love the intensive colour of the skirt!
