Greetings!
My wife and I have just opened a store called "Radiance Bound" that specializes in hand-made fetish and fantasy neckwear, like this: ![]() As you can see, we are going for looks that are unique, edgy, and fun. We are *brand new* to all this, and would love to get your feedback. When we started our company, it never occured to us that belly dancing might be any kind of fit for the kinds of items that we make, but a customer recently told us of that we should really look into the items and costumes that people are wearing for dancing, especially for goth style dancers. Please pay us a visit at: RadianceBound.Com ... and let us know, could our items work for dancing? Would a dancer wear a neck piece with spikes? (Is it safe?!) My wife is an award winning jeweler and we design and hand-craft all of the pieces that we sell for our store, so we can be very flexible about creating new pieces. You might also want to take a look at our cuffs here: ![]() As you can see, we can do some pretty interesting things with leather, and I wonder if something like this could be adapted to a dancers costume. (we currently have the ability to do this kind of leather latice work with metalic silver, red, blue, green, purple or diffraction rainbow colors). Believe it or not, that's not metal that we use to make the shiny inner parts, so the cuffs are much lighter than you would think, and naturally we can make any of our designs without the rings... We would really appreciate your thoughts and feedback on what we offer compared to what you folks are looking for! If it seems like we are close, we might just start making dancer accessories! Thanks in advance for your feedback. - WildCat |

Hi Wildcat, I think that you are very talented in wat you are doing ,....But the neck thing i dont think so for bellydancing....it would disturb me when i dance...... and the design is little bit to much ,a not bellydance piece... but the things for the arms perhaps if you make it with some color cristals and no big locks to close it .So it would look a bit more fine??it might be nice...i do wonder if it perhaps is nice for our brother bellydancers??......but again no spike,s...have a great day Lydia

Wildcat, you are going to made a killing with this kind of fashion, it is the last trend I know, maybe not for belly dance, but hey, the Ghot style dancers and Ghotics in general will buy it, bikers, and freaks will too, lets be honest, that stuff is really trendy and people is going to buy it. if you do not do business with us, go on any way and good look to you. mariesaffron.

Your leatherwork is lovely, and would work well for some fusion and gothic dancers.
I think most belly dancers wouldn't be able to use it in public performance, though. Most of us have enough problems with the audience over-sexualizing our art form. It wouldn't help matters to start wearing fetish gear. ![]() |

Hi Wildcat,You and your wife are talented artisans! No doubt your art would appeal to Gothic and Tribal Fusion style dancers and the young and trendy at heart. The reason it may not work for Classical Egyptian,American Cabaret and Turkish dance is that it may not be culturally appropriate. However with the talent you guys possess I can't see any reason why you can't learn Arabic style jewelry making and market to a niche that LOVES unique items of beauty.

Wow!
What a great community! I'm very impressed with the amount of feedback you've shared already... and Mariesaffron, we especially appreciate your enthusiasm! Ok, so if I am hearing this correctly, it sounds like our stuff might be fine for Goth-style dancers as is or with minor modifications, but fetishy in general, and spikes in particular are too much for the traditional forms. I was very surprised to hear da Sage's comment about audiences "over-sexualizing" your art. I know virtually nothing about your art, but what little I do know led me to believe that it was beautiful, sensual and inherently sexy. Call me crazy, but I thought you could not possibly have too much of any of those attributes! Alas, not being a performer I don't understand the specific issues that you all face, but if we are going to make items to support you, it's get to understand these things up front! If I might impose on this community's hospitality another time, could you share with me links to some of your favorite stores and items for the jewlery that you wear in your costumes? This will help us by giving us a solid starting place for research into what is currently available, and what traditional pieces look like. My sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the conversation so far! - WildCat |

Your work is amazing!
I love chokers, so I would find an occasion to wear something like that. They'd be perfect for Gothic/fusion dancers. I adore the Spiked Majesty, Silver Harem and Silver Princess ones on your site, but I think you might need to be careful with the larger studs, especially at the sides - they might get in the way of some of the arm movements. Personally I'm not too keen on the rings on the cuffs, but apart from that they are stunning, and would be very popular. Good luck! |
