Hello all
Was just reading the thread on stage make up and saw that there are quite a lot of trained make up professionals on this forum whose brains I would like to pick! I am a red-head - no freckles particularly but the full works apart from that: bright copper hair, green eyes, very very pale skin. I love my colouring but the fact it is so distinctive also means I have to be careful with the makeup I pick. And for some reason make-up advice always seemed to split three ways - one section for brunettes, one for blondes and one for those with olive or dark skin. Why never a section for us pale ginger people?! I am feeling discriminated against! So do any of you gurus have some good tips for colours etc? I have become loads better at applying heavy make up for performing over the last year or two but I'd really welcome any advice!! In particular I struggle to find a lipstick shade that looks strong against my skin but doesn't make my lips look thinner! |

I know how you feel as an auburn haired pale skined girl myself.
![]() I'm not a proffesional make-up artist but I've had some experiance in this field for that all important stage make-up. For eye shadow I normaly go with silver or gold depending on my costum's coins or highlights. I find that light cream colored eyeshadow looks really nice too. I've not had a lot of luck with lipstick that looks ME though. ![]() And of course instead of black eyeliner or mascara use dark brown. But you probably already kew that. ![]()

Have you read any of Bobbi Brown's beauty books? She does address redheads. As does Carmindy Acosta's book "The Five Minute Face."
