Pure virgin coconut oil is just awesome and my country exports loads and loads of them. People here usually drink it as a supplement and apply to the skin at night after a shower for moisturization.

For hair: I dip a cottonball in virgin coconut oil and gently apply it to my scalp section by section. Then, I smooth the cottonball on my hair especially the tips. I leave for an hour, hours or overnight then shampoo it off and apply conditioner and curl products... Result? Awesome black shiny curly hair.... That is until I am exposed to the 35degC heat and extreme humidity and pollution, eeeek!

From the curl products I tried, my hair responded well to Australia's de Lorenzo products. I'm curious about Body Shop curl products and I hope we have this in our Body Shop shops here.

How could I have overlooked this thread? This has all the answers to my question (in another thread) of maintaining curly hair!

Wow Curl, you look gorgeous in that costume!

I think it will be best if let your hair fall. Lots of conditioner and curl definer from the middle to the ends of the hair would probably do the trick.

Good luck and have fun. Do let us know how it all went!

My pleasure, Bolesregan!

One of our sisters here suggested that instead of shampoo, I'll use conditioner to wash my hair. Because of the pollution, heat and humidity I'm exposed to here, I have to really clean my scalp and hair so recently, after my coconut oil treatment, I tried using just a little shampoo mixed with a little conditioner to wash my hair and some of the coconut oil in my scalp before I condition. Considering the weather here, it worked really great!

Hope you'll keep us posted if it worked well for you.

Hi again, girl! If shampoo worked very well for you, then I belive you should continue it. Some of my friends who have oily skin and hair find that washing their hair with shampoo really helps, and they apply only very light conditioner while others prefer using conditioner to wash and condition hair. Others find it works more for them to wash every other day, others once a week only like one of my hairdresser friends in NZ. It is different for every individual.

Are you okay with experimenting with virgin coconut oil to see if your hair will love it? I'm excited to know how it will go! Good luck!
