Maybe someone here is blessed with stroppy, uncontrollable hair like mine and can share some tips...?
It's natural, let your hair do it's thing, it is part of your natural self, and the dance, I hope that also is part of your natural self.

I can understand your concerns about hair that refuses to be controlled, mine is the same, it is fine when it is wet, but drying brings curls and awkwardness. Combing, forget it, as soon as it is combed, it reverts back to au natrel, basically the mess it started in. Mine, I just let it grow and do it's own thing, though on occaisions where I need some control, I comb olive oil into it. That makes it sleek and dark and controllable, but often too controllable. I use the product ' Organic Root stimulator' which I have found in it's various guises, is best for my hair.

How do you use coconut oil in your hair? Do you put it in with fingers and just leave it in, or wash it out after awhile...? I am going to have to try this too!

Jahzaal, if you do try Mixed Chicks products, let me know what you think. You and your daughters' different curly hair types will surely be a good trial of the product!
Hey Maylynn. Sorry It took me a while to get back to you. I am just getting around to trying "Mixed Chicks". Makeda gave me the conditioner. I really like it!!! I still have to play around with it some more. It is a leave in conditioner. When I try new products, I still use my old products with the new one (just in case) I washed and conditioned my hair with Tre Semme, then I put the Mixed Chicks conditioner in my hair. It really defined my curls. I loved the way my hair looked once it dried. I would say get the conditioner. You can never go wrong with a leave in conditioner. I am going to purchase the shampoo and see how that works. Although I LOVE Tre Semme, I don't like the way it makes my hair feel when I comb it out wet.

Ah, excellent! My current conditioner will start to run low soon, so I'll keep an eye out for the Mixed Chicks conditioner. If you try out any of their other products, let me know how it goes!

Certainly! One thing that I rediscovered lately on my coconut kick is Coconut Oil Hair Shine from The Body Shop. Comes in a handy purse-sized tin, is made of coconut oil, and makes your hair smell sooooo good! I find it really useful for travelling: putting on my ends to define curls or doing a quick smooth-over to soothe frizzies.

Ooo and also, Move Control (a kind of creme pomade thing) by Goldwell is one of my all-time favourites for curliness. Defines curls and controls without crunchiness or stickiness - I just finger-comb it in when my hair is wet and then go!

I haven't made it to The Body Shop Yet. I was able to get Move control over the weekend. It's different, because I have never used a puddy on my hair before. I love the results, but I do have to use it with Aveda Be Curly, or Curl. It's called one of the two. It worked wonders on my hair. Thanks A Lot fot the Tip I will let you know as soon as I make it to The Body Shop. My hair is screaming for some oil.

Ha, then you are using the exact same hair product combo as me! Yes, Move Control can take a bit of getting used to & finding out how best to apply it for you (I find scrunching into my ends then fingercombing works well) but it does do the trick! I also use Move Control with Aveda Elixir, a leave-in conditioner, and I find that works well too.

I've started using pure virgin coconut oil for practically everything - moisturizer, foot treatment, hair treatment. Addicted!
