My hair used to be very long - to my hips and is curly and I had it dyed an auburn color for a long time. I used to sleep in braids (to keep down the tangling) and would often put oil on it to soak in overnight and it kept it in reasonably good shape. However, I decided to try henna once and it turned my hair multi-colored. I had every shade from pink to orange to purple in it.. I ended up having to have all the color stripped out and it redyed closer to my natural blonde color and about a foot and a half sheared off from the damage.
It took forever to grow out the remaining damaged hair. If you have hard water, something you can try is doing a final rinse with a quart or two of water with some vinegar mixed in. The vinegar will neutralize the minerals in the water and will also help removed any excess build up of styling products. |

Hey I see this is an older post but still you never know....
My pal Ginger is a hair goddess at Blush salon here in Slc. I don't see her all the time but every couple of months I like to go in and have her work her magic. Get a little color and heat therapy. Even if your not a regular customer you might find that a local hair technician can tell you more about the local water/humidity/air quality. Just one visit should tame the wild mane ![]()

Just find products that contain SPF for your hair. There are a lot of hair care products that now include SPF. For example you can buy foundation with SPF, moisturizer with SPF, and you can buy sun block with SPF.
