Usually when I see a gray-haired woman she's wearing a short, wash n' wear, poodly kind of haircut that I find really boring. So when I see someone who has broken the stereotype I pay attention, 'cause my own hair is nearly waist-length and I've been wondering if I should let it keep marching on to grayhood or not.
Certainly, gray hair is kinder to the face after a certain age, but I thought I was doomed to just look sort of faded until I found this on the Oprah web site and found it immensely cheering. What say y'all? Gray Hair Transformations: Stripey Hair

I have some gray. Most of the reason, I henna it is that i'm not ready to go gray and i really don't have a ton of it. I'm happy with the results from the henna although i may have to go with a regular product in a while. I do have long hair (below rear) and my hair is no where as gray as those in the pictures.

I'm greying, but not enough to matter yet. I'm colouring my hair (notice we say 'colouring' when men say 'dying'?!!) and it's growing longer... but one day I'll have to go grey. At the moment I don't feel ready to do so - but when I do I'll gradually fade the colour (go lighter) and I will be growing my hair long... No need to change hairstyles, I think long hair looks great on anyone. Except my father.
Mum has silver hair, I am incredibly jealous of it! I have Dad's hair colour and he's still not really grey yet and he's 65!

What happened to my post?
i have grey hair and have considered growing it long, but decided I just wasn't elegant enough. when I cut off my hair in my 20s the only one to say it wasn't an improvement thought that all women should have long hair. HOWEVER i am NOT a poodle!! |

I sorta like the 'poodle' look, grandma looked very elegant with it... but mind she always had a perfect pedicure even on the other side of 70....
I like the pictures of those ladies, but well they dont look say 70? most of them are younger women that are turning gray...

For women who ain't there yet, the dilemma is wondering how one keeps the gray and not look faded, tired or less vibrant than one would like to appear. I liked the fact that the stylists talked about different shampoos, makeup, hair lengths and styles, etc., to make the most of gray hair -- not just color to conceal.

My mum is 81 and her hair is still mostly brown. People, including some of those posting here should stop putting us in boxes according to our hair colour. The only reason it looks wrong to you for a woman under 70 is that so many people are afraid to show that their hair has gone grey. |
