Not sure what you mean.

We are used to seeing people of a certain age have gray or white hair, that's why we tend to associate it with stereotypes that go along with perceptions (false or true) about advancing age. Some people do retain their natural hair color into their 70s and beyond but it's pretty unusual to keep a full head of color from their younger selves-- so unusual that it can look unnatural.

The only thing I'm advocating is a stop to associating gray hair with the stereotypes. If people want to color their hair because they like the way it looks, more power to 'em, and if their hair really is a more "youthful" shade when older, great. I just don't think gray hair should have to look a certain way or represent anybody's stereotypes.

I have gray/silver streak on the top of my head, but it's obscured by my braids. My Mother's hair started silvering at 26 and she never 'dyed' or 'colored' her hair. She had a beautiful silver afro by the time she passed. She's the example I'm following. But my silver is taking it's sweet ol' time. My oldest daughter, BTW has more gray/silver than I do!

Wow. I started going grey when I was 8 and at age 43 I am totally salt and pepper with a little more salt these days. I have always dyed my hair. I have tried a few times to grow the grey in but I always back out when I get to a point where my head is half and half. I think all of these woman look fabulous with their grey hair. Thanks for posting that. Chani

I think it is great that the ladies in the article choose to hold on to what they like despite everyone telling them otherwise! They even dont look 'grey' they look silver...LOL But also they have pretty makeup, etc so it makes us think....ooooh they are pretty.... but another thing is to keep hair uin that shape every day.... and look as good as in the pix? LOL My mom always colors her hair and certainly does not think its an option for gray to show.... It depends alot on a person- some manage to look young with gray, and some prefer to colour to look younger?

hooray for variety!

I started getting white hair when I was 28, and I was teased about it but never colored my hair. My hair was about half and half when i was in my 30's but it looked frosted and people thought I had a beautician do it for me.

My hair is almost completely white now (at 55) and I wore it long for many years until I just got tired of dealing with it. It is really thick and bushy. Lots of women these days are going natural, I think it looks great. I have way more compliments about my hair these days than I ever did when I was younger.

Well, a poodle I am not- more of a chubby afghan hound with about two feet of hair that is still brown simply because I inherited my dad's genes for hair that keeps it's color long after everyone else's has gone fashionably grey. Kharmine probably is too modest to tell you herself, but she has great hair, long and thick.
