I broke my ankle summer 05. It still hurts when dancing relevee. Went to class yesterday and can't put weight on that foot in relevee today. Anyone got any advice about strengthening my ankle? To make things worse it's on the leg with the 35 year old knee injury!!

hello I am sorry to hear about this. What you might want to do is strech before your start your lessons and put some ice after even when it does not hurt. I am 38 years old and love to do these dances but had always been too busy taking care of my children and family. Finally last year I decided to join an academy and learn! I realize that for some reason my left side of the body does not respond to instructions so easily... any ideas or tips on how to make my left side more flexible. I was in a car accident two weeks ago and broke my knee so now I am with a cast but I am sure that soon I will back on track! so hang in there!
cheers! Kadyja ![]() |

Thanks for your interest I hope your knee is better soon. Right or left? I read elsewhere that if your left side is not so good try to learn everything left side first as your right side will get it automatically. This may be why as a strong left-hander I don't have that problem as we seem to learn everything right first so I can then do everything two sides

I agree with the above. Stretching, anti-inflammatories etc. When you feel severe pain, be careful not to reinjure tissues. Perhaps you have some arthritis in those joints? Maybe a visit to your doctor would help also. Good luck and I hope you will be dancing at full strength again soon.
