Back to topic. The main thing that will help bellies to go and help with dancing is POSTURE. I used to have a WINE glass figure - slim legs belly same size as butt. I lost 1.5 stone (21lbs), exercised my abs until I can move each set separately (lower, middle, upper) and I still had a belly. THEN I realised that my posture still wasn't good. If I stand up I am at least one inch taller and belly gets smaller through regular good posture.
Still trying to lose another 7lbs thoughJen |

Absolutely agree with you Jen. I try to practice my bellydance posture when standing around, although initially I feel a bit awkward when you look front or side on it's actually quite flattering as well as good for the muscles. Tucking the pelvis under does wonders! When our teacher exaggerates the opposite ("duck bums") it always gets a good laugh.

Yes and you should also try to stand taller as your natural posture. As if you had a string pulling you up from the top of your head, without sticking your chin up. As in the Alexander technique, whic is a way of training your body to overcome bad habits of posture which can cause other problems. you can go to a teacher for it.

i think a big belly is not a big problem
