You have all my sympathy, as I spent the whole of Thursday night rushing to the bathroom. Salt is extremely important when it comes to staving off dehydration, I remember in Spain we always had salted popcorn to keep up on sodium. Your body may tell you when you're in need of more salt, for example I lost a lot of fluids and energy, and all I'm craving right now is something salty and carbohydrate based.

thanks for the info ladies!
it probably is the salt then because i cook with very little salt and i don't really snack to say i'd get it from somewhere else. i feel much better, and i'll try something salty if i feel sick today after working out. |

i agree about seeing the doctor. its so hard to say what it could be because i dont know your routine.
if you drink water all day and then workout and follow the workout with TEA...then get sick- wait longer before having that tea. replacing electrolytes is vital. do you work out consistently or do you binge exercise? because binge exercising can produce the same (sicklY) results, its very unhealthy, creates more stress to the body than it does good. doing cardio without easing into it, or warming up gradually will also get your stomach tied in knots. if you finish up cardio and then hop directly into the shower, i mean thats the first thing a trainer will tell you. your body temp, blood flow, metabolism, all that changes when you are exercising, if you are jumping into the shower you are causing rapid changes, too rapid changes, there is no recovery, its like somebody waking you up abruptly by throwing ice water in your face. its a jolt your body does not need. its very unhealthy to cool down so rapidly. if you are so hot you have to jump in the shower immediately after, it really makes me think you arent warming up or cooling down properly. i dont know. sounds like you need to slow down, start all over with your exercise regimen because it just doesnt sound healthy. dont do it just to say well i did my hour for the day, then plop down on the couch with a cup of tea after a cold shower. damn...that will do it. |

charity i'm not new to exercise - i used to train twice a day with a personal trainer for about 3 years since i was 16. i'm perfectly aware of how to warm up and cool down properly.
Aside from dancing a minimum of 8 hours a week i also do an hour of cardio 3 or 4 times a week. consistently. I don't walk directly into the shower either, i usually wait 15 to 20 minutes before i do that regardless of the fact that i generally would like to. that has more to do with the fact that i live in a climate that is almost consistently 34 degrees celcius without considering the humidity and UV index that make it feel hotter than that. As i said previously, this isn't something that typically happens. before this it only happened once, a long while ago. I was just curious as to what might have caused it so i can prevent it from happening again. thank you for your concern and input though! |
