I am well aware that there are already several threads with recipes....LOL Sorry for contaminating the forum with useless threads...
![]() But I am looking for recipes for main dishes that are vegitarian! You know Good ol' mac n cheese does not count! In certain seasons it is hard to get hold of veggies (prices skyrocket) so I am looking for some 'budget' recipes, I dunno if such thing even exists...LOL Ayways, I am eager to learn! Love and hugs, reen.blom ![]()

I can tell you oodles. What do you want to include/like? I have a feeling my current budget veggie recipes many differ in ingredients from what would be budget for you, as they will focus around UK winter veg which will not necessarily be what is cheap to you.
Off to cook lentil and cabbage curry with brown rice now! Seriously, we actually eat that, and I love the fact it's too much of a cliche to be true. But don't be put off, I can also tell you less wholesome recipes too.

I am going to add one more set of questions so I know what recipes I can suggest. Do you eat dairy products like milk or cheese or do you use the vegan substitutes like soy milk, rice milk or nut cheese? Do you even use any or are you straight vegan? No dairy, no eggs or no eggs but dairy?
I sometimes cook up rice, cook up veggies, add together and top with a soy sauce. |

And while we're at it, can you put in some recipes to suit my 14 year old daughter who has proclaimed that she is vegetarian, but doesn't like potatoes, peas, cooked carrots, cabbage, onion, mushrooms...
I was vegetarian for quite a few years - one of my favourites is falafel cooked as patties (yum!) with a palau (rice dish) to go with it, and a yummy tomato and chilli dipping sauce. Lettuce or spinach salad to go with it and you're away!

Oooops did I mention she doesn't like nuts?! LOL
I am hoping it's a fad, as she's very thin... 160 cm tall, and 39.5 kg. You can see all her bones....

How old is she? It might become better when she stops growing. I also used to be skinny and now I'm just slim, but in a more healthy way and I also like more food now (but I still dislike a lot
)Well, if she does like cheese, that can contain a lot of calories ![]() |

Hallo it is me again!
I am not a vegetarian YET, but I do want to cut on meat for various reasons! I want to cook at least 2 meals a week without meat, fish is normally hard to get and I only try to avoid all that stuff with preservatives and artificial stuff in! I am personnally easily satisfied, I can eat my tomato salad with greek yogurt for breakfast, lunch and dinner...LOL BUt my fiance is a bit more picky, and though I tought him to appreciate salads, I dont think he would be tricked into tomato diet! LOL (joke) I usually cook one vegiatarian dinner per week but now we agreed on 2 and to keep him interested I need to show some skills...LOL As for meat we normally buy pork and chicken (all lean) and I do use a lot of veggies, but as for stand-alone veg dishes it is relativly new to me. Where I grew up most ANY veggies are really expensive in winter so normally we are used to cooking soups and stews with a bit of meat and potatos and also noodles rice and sometimes beetroot and cabbage. It would be next to IMPOSSIBLE to cook without meat, because otherwise the soup would be just potatoes! Well a separate serving of meat for every member of the family is a treat, and also you would find that if you eat just potato and noodles and maybe beans without meat every day, you would get hungry 2 hours after you had dinner! Well it is of course different if you have a selection of fruit and veggies! So I am on a learning spree and actually want to buy a decent veg book, that would not be only curries, becaus I am not big fan of curry!(will give it another chance though!) Oh and da Sage thank you for the link! Hugs and cuddles, reen.blom
