it's expecially the "no-one likes to look at ugly people" comment that bothers me, like the woman in the other video was ugly before they photoshopped her.
I feel sorry for those looks-focused people. I think they are very insecure about themselves. One of those people once insulted me because she was stinking jealous of me, because I dance better and people were complimenting me and not her with her flashy costume. Yes, maybe a lot of guys jump on the looks focused girls who all look the same imo, but why do those guys like them anyway? My boyfriend likes me not only for my looks, but also for who I am! ![]() |

Thanks gals for the links! Much fun!
I actually doing that mkyself- making celeb posters of my friends... ![]() Oh well I agree with all that promoting false standards and shalowness stuff... But on the other hand photography is also a tricky thing- with bad light anyone could look really bad.... I had friends stare at their photoshopped pics and say in amazement... but I'm BEAUTIFUL! After years of being afraid of being in the pictures they really felt like they were not worse than those airbrushed cover girls! Another thing is what we are taught and sold every day- body and looks wise... One thing to remember true beauty comes from inside, isnt it what they call charm? Havent you ever met people who are not attractive according to pop culture standards, but who seem to radiate that special somthing? Like a girl or a guy that is not particulary attractive but everyone is mad about? I think it comes from inner feeling of dignity and self-respect, but also some special twinkle in the eye.... more precious than all the airbrushing in the world....

I'd say that everyone I think is beautiful, thin or not, has something 'else'. A cardboard cutout is not truly beautiful without personality.

If a dancer alters her image through computers then her audience are going to be in for a big shock when they see her in the flesh. How many times has this happend? I have lost count of the times I have not recognised a dancer when I saw her in life.
Photoshop may make you feel good about your photo image but not if an extreme make-over is not possible in real life. The photo of the dancer on this site looks very unreal to me... oops, I think I am about to be booted off. Perhaps she is naturally 1000% unblemished! |
