Shanazel, you type [ youtube]youtube code[/youtube ] but without spaces.
By the way, this parody is a lot more disturbing YouTube - Dove Evolution Parody especially the text at the end. And Dove does not support real beauty. |

HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITT... that parody pissed me the F@*! off.
so what are they saying, that anybody who isnt drop dead gorgeous is that way because they are lazy, slobs who dont care what they look like and what that they SHOULD care what other people think? i dont know. i live in a college town, tons of beautiful young girls and imo only some so-so guys. nothing to brag about, not like the girls. they put so much time into their hair and make-up, make-up to appear as if they arent wearing any at all, make-up enough to cover all their god-given freckles, fake tans/orange skin, buckets of make-up, designer clothes, and EMPTY EMPTY HEADS. no personality, no intelligence, mind numbing stupidity. stupidity to the degree i am baffled at things i see around here. i almost feel as if i am being pushed to the point of loathing and contempt for these beautiful, brainless twits. uh ho, but perhaps i am bitter, jealous, well thats what they would believe. but is it me or does this compulsion and obsession with beauty seem to be leading humanity into the direction of all things pointless and empty, trivial, narcisistic? anymore when i hear someone say, oh i'm too fat, i'm too thin...all i can think is BECOME WHO YOU WANT TO BE. if you dont like it, you have power enough over your life to change that. but the way i see the whole world going, man, we arent getting better, we are de-volving or deteriorating morally, mentally, and physically. i mean content is not the issue at all, its all about how a person LOOKS. i'm too angry to speak intelligently so i should just cool off and come back later. but no i will push on. i mean, these days yes, there are some incredibly beautiful people in this world. but i feel like i've always been "beautifu", i may not have the gift to show it through my make-up or hair or whatever, but i know, that from youth to now, beauty cannot stand up to time, and all those people who surround there existence around it will come to lead an empty, empty life if they do not begin to search for something more. but i know, that just isnt even true, because as soon as the next best thing comes along, a guy will jump at it. or a girl. this seems to be the way of the world now. i will edit this later, right now my rage has left me in an exhausted state. i must sound like a damn lunatic. |

Charity,
While I respect and would defend your right to "rage" (lol) I think that parody clip isn't truly saying "that anybody who isnt drop dead gorgeous is that way because they are lazy." If you go to the website at the end of the clip, they have a lot of similar kinds of clips featured. I don't think they're PROMOTING the idea that you have to be gorgeous and surgical correct. I think they're actually making fun of people who BELIEVE that "no one wants to look at ugly people," of which there are (sadly) too many in our world. But your points are noted, and I agree with you. I just think this parody clip is really just a parody of the whole idea -- and the idea that Dove is featuring "real women" -- nonsense. Real Women aren't Photoshopped. |

aziyade,
hmm...interesting. when i saw the dove evolution, i felt like i knew what they were trying to say. the ad showed one thing, and their objective was another. to find real beauty, a different kind of beauty, a beauty in the everyday woman that is not edited for a public. whereas the parody, i had a more negative association. that they were saying exactly what they showed. too me a parody would have been that they took a guy and for a parody instead of altering him to look even more beautiful they step-by-step illustrate how they photographically alter him into a slob. no they showed someone who did not take care of themself and who over indulged. they didnt show a beautiful guy and make him ugly through photoshop. they showed him making himself ugly by overindulgence, by drinking, eating, smoking like a chimney. yes they photoshopped the changes, only because time lapse video would take a long time for him to get fat, get bad skin, etc etc. i mean i dont know, i guess its hard to say. i only watched the video and this is my impression. shall i watch it again. maybe later. all in all it doesnt change the fact that their is such an ugly shallowness that is becoming more and more prevalent these days. and it is that attitude that disgusts me. the one that makes other women hate themselves...question their value, destroy their bodies in the sake of pleasing some general public who only knows them by how they look... |
