Janaki, I love the picture. It is my new screen saver. Now I need to come up with a dance worthy of my new prop. Maybe a fusion of cane and sword dancing? It would have to be very spearited, of course. Since you are in Hong Kong, you might not know that Skinny Cow is a real name brand in the US!
Mariyam, your muffin top is very pretty. Last edited by Shanazel; 12-31-2007 at 03:49 AM. |

That's hilarious!Maybe they should just create a camera that just replaces the photo of a subject with a picture of a celebrity or model ![]() |

Bombshells with brains - curvy women study results |Style Thing!|FocusOnStyle.com
I found this the other day on the internet, and I was reminded of this discussion. To be honest, I'm really doubtful about this (I have this body shape and I know better), but isn't it nice to read things like these for a change? (Take that HP skinny-cam!) |

You know, I"m going to play devil's advocate here for a minute:
In a weird way, this might be GOOD for the public. Advertising photographs, newspaper photographs, pretty much any photograph you see that's not on somebody's personal web page HAS been altered in some way. I used to work at a newspaper, and the art guys would ALWAYS fiddle with photos of political candidates they didn't like -- making hairlines recede, adding wrinkles, fattening them up, narrowing the eyes, etc. It was juvenile, but I realized it was routine and common practice everywhere. Celeb photos are doctored. Model photos are doctored. Playboy models are covered in more digital makeup than the gold-painted chick in the James Bond film; and breasts are enlarged, lips are enlarged, waists narrowed, legs lengthened, pounds trimmed off. This is standard operating procedure for Playboy, and most people know that, but most people in the US DON'T realize that this happens to pretty much EVERY photo you see in public. Of course, I've doctored my own photos in Photoshop to make my eyes larger and my tricep flab less obvious, so it's not like I'm a purist But for a long time this technology was only available to graphic artists and people who wanted to shell out big bucks for photo editing software. Now that cameras themselves have this option, it might make people realize just how easy it is to manipulate the way you look, and MIGHT make them realize that if THEY altered their silhouette, maybe Kate Moss and Heidi Klum and whoever is in the spotlight at the moment ALSO had their photos altered, and we just might be able to get people to realize that what they see in photos is a fantasy -- an idealized image brought to reality through technology and NOT through 8-minute Ab videos and starving yourself. It's a long shot, but it could happen. |
